Smart Girl's Guide to Spring Break

If only network TV would lead with this news: according to a University of Minnesota study, “hooking up” — casual sex with more than one partner — is NOT in itself damaging to one’s psychological health. Just like the “free love” generation before us, millennials figured this out long before the men in white coats arrived. For some, hooking up is a way to explore their sexuality without a relationship commitment. For others it’s a form of dating — a good relationship requires a good sexual relationship, so why not cut to the chase? But —...

Mixed Signals

I am positive everyone of us have received that look from the opposite sex, or on the contrary, been looked right over. The tough part is to decide whether they are just playing hard-to-get, or if they just aren’t interested in you. The first thing you should make sure is that you actually like the person, not just really want to be pleasured to the full extent of your fantasy with them. If they don’t laugh and your poor attempts at jokes, it is most likely a waste of jokes that could go a lot further with someone else. Possibly even landing you in the sack with a person who’s...

One Word Txts

One Word Txts

So, I was thinking today… Why do people even bother with one word Txts. They are a waste of time for both parties…. Why would anyone send a one word txt and not bother carrying on the conversation? Is the beginning of a new type of communication? One where everyone can answer with telecommunication. No, I think the true answer lies with the people sending those horrible txts. I believe they want the responding party to ask a more provocative question/statement to catch them off guard and spice up there typical day, or they want you to leave them alone. But, ff they take the time to...

Smart Girl's Guide to New Year's Eve

New Year’s Eve – a sparkly dress, a glittering party, a bubbly drink, and if you’re lucky, a kiss that lingers minutes past midnight. What better way to send off 2009 (good riddance!) and ring in the next decade? Yet, anyone who’s ever experienced a New Year’s Eve knows the expectations are higher than for almost any other night of the year – and the pressures, dangers, and stresses are doubled as well. Whether it’s how to tell your boyfriend that you’d like to remain a virgin into 2010 or that tonight’s the night to try something new, it’s...

5 Common Reasons Why Men Lie To Women

Have you ever wondered how much of the things your man says are the real truth? It’s interesting that a lot of times, to keep a relationship working, men often feel that the best thing to do is lie. Strangely, women often know that what their man is telling them is a pure lie and yet they still prefer to hear it. So why do men lie? What are the reasons they feel the need to lie to their partners? 1. To make their woman happy. Let’s take an example. The majority of women are not happy with their bodies. What is a man suppose to answer when asked “how do I look?” We all know...

10 Ways for Guys to Last Longer In Bed

In the world of sexuality, perhaps nothing is so misunderstood as Premature Ejaculation. It is the butt of an endless onslaught of jokes and the cause of just as many worries, as men around the world continue to lose all kinds of confidence with every new penis drug that is released. Masters and Johnson defines PE as the condition where a man ejaculates before his sex partner achieves orgasm, in more than fifty percent of their sexual encounters. Other sex researchers have defined premature ejaculation as occurring if the man ejaculates within two minutes of penetration; however, a survey by Alfred...

10 Best Places to Meet a Girl in College

Many students will return, if they haven’t already, to college classrooms and begin a year full of boring power point presentations, dull professors overly concerned about their own research and work, and hours and hours of library visits. But all this time spent flipping through JSTOR and scrawling in notebooks is not what many male students actually think about. But we all know this, it’s not a secret. But when you are in college, you can’t expect your English 101 partner to get in the sack because you simply asked. Here are some good places to scope out the love of your college life. 10....

Three Essential Relationship Tests: The Move In, The Big Trip, and Sex

Three Essential Relationship Tests: The Move In, The Big Trip, and Sex

The old pre-marriage rules: No sex, no living together, no sleeping together, no extended periods of unsupervised time together. The people who came up with these rules obviously knew that if people really got to know each other intimately, they wouldn’t marry at any where near the rate that they do. Better to get the young folk hitched and then let them find out all the stuff about the snoring and tossing and turning and sexual incompatibility. Well, with a divorce rate of over 50% we’ve seen how that turned out. Oops. Time for new rules. The new pre-marriage rules: No marriage before...

Forbidden

“Adam was but human-this explains it all. He did not want the apple for the apple’s sake, he wanted it only because it was forbidden.” -Mark Twain (born 1835 CE) “We are ever striving after what is forbidden, and coveting what is denied us.” -Ovid (Born 43 BCE) Ovid was born 1878 years before Mark Twain, but during those nearly two thousand years, at least one human trait has defied evolution, staying stubbornly constant.  The desire for what we can’t have, the obsession with what is forbidden. Tell kids that cookies are only for special treats, and they will go to astronomical...

Alva's Story Part 2: Never Been Kissed

Last year I wrote a story about an inspiring young woman named Alva Gardner.  Alva was born with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy. You can read the original article here: http://lifeaccordingtojed.blogspot.com/2008/02/alvas-story-single-white-female-with.html The article was published in February of 2008 and began like this: “Alva Gardner is a young woman, 17 years old, with cerebral palsy. Her mind is unaffected by her disability, and indeed she has a wit, humor, and intelligence far beyond most high school seniors, or even adults for that matter. At the same time, her speech is somewhat...

Why People Don’t Have Sex

Why People Don't Have Sex

On July 31st of 2007, John Tierney wrote an article in the New York Times on the 237 reasons that people have sex. He was writing about a study done by psychologists at the University of Texas at Austin. These researchers asked approximately 2,000 people for reasons why they had sex and came up with 237 reasons. Some fairly interesting, unexpected reasons emerged. Number 173, according to Tierney, was “to get rid of a headache”. Another was to “change the topic of conversation” and still another “because I was dared to”. At the end of the article, Tierney invites readers to post additional...
